About Rinat Harel

A habitual nomad, I have lived in various countries (Israel, USA, England, Germany),
and my creative journey is inspired by explorations of self and environment.

I hold bachelor's and master’s degrees in fine art from Bezalel Art Academy and Lesley
University, respectively, and studied creative writing at Emerson College, where I
earned the 2015 Writing, Literature & Publishing Graduate Writing Award in
Nonfiction, judged by Robert Atwan, the editor of Best American Essays.

With a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from the University of Exeter in England, I am
currently working on a story collection that centers on life in Israel, home/homeland,
un/belonging, war, the Holocaust, and intergenerational trauma.

An experienced writing instructor, I hold an Associate Fellowship (AFHEA) from the
UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher
education.

My stories, which have earned recognition through several awards, have found homes in
various literary magazines. On the artistic front, my work has been exhibited in galleries
in Boston and beyond, and I have curated art exhibitions, including an international
video exhibit at Boston University.
