About Rinat Harel
Having lived in various countries, including Israel, the USA, England, and Germany, my
creative journey is inspired by explorations of self and environment.
I hold bachelor's and master's degrees in fine art from Bezalel Art Academy and Lesley
University, respectively, and studied creative writing at Emerson College, earning the
2015 Writing, Literature & Publishing Graduate Writing Award in Nonfiction.
My PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Exeter examines the relationship
between the form of interlinked stories and narratives on trauma. The creative project is
a collection of linked stories. They intertwine autobiography with fiction, reality with
surrealism, and history with speculation, exploring themes of war, home, un/belonging,
and intergenerational trauma.
An experienced writing instructor, I hold an Associate Fellowship (AFHEA) from the UK
Professional Standards Framework for higher education teaching and learning.
My poetry and prose have been published in various literary magazines, and my stories
have earned recognition through several awards. As a visual artist, my work has been
exhibited in galleries in Boston and beyond, and I have curated art exhibitions,
including an international video exhibit at Boston University.
